Adult Education During COVID-19

Throughout the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic, we invite you to join us for virtual worship as a community on our YouTube Channel each Sunday morning at 10am.

Because of health concerns and our desire to work as a community to help slow the spread of this disease, we currently do not have  Sunday morning Bible Class offerings. However, throughout the course of the week we offer a variety of opportunities for members to meet safely in a variety of settings to study together, pray together, encourage one another, and grow in faith and hope.

Middle School Pod

This pod meets weekly at the home of Travis M. (masked, outside, and socially distanced) for a time of study, reflection, prayer, and fellowship. The meeting is from 4pm through 5:30pm on Sundays.

Hard Pressed But Not Crushed (Class via Zoom)

A Class on Resilience in Challenging Times. This LONG season of the pandemic has brought many challenges to the world. Our Conejo community has certainly not been exempt. How can our faith, our church family, and our practices sustain us? Throughout history, God’s people have endured many trials, remained faithful, and allowed their faith to provide an anchor. How can we do that? This very practical class will include some instruction and some discussion as we encourage each other in resilience.

The class meets weekly on Sundays from 4pm to 5pm January 17 through and February 7 and is led by Connie H.

Monday Night Women’s Bible Study (Class via Zoom)

Join a group of Conejo women via Zoom each Monday at 7pm to pray, encourage one another, engage in study and discussion together. The book chosen by the group for the winter quarter is Embracing God’s Grace: A Study of Colossians and Philemon by Elizabeth George. If you are interested in participating, please contact the church office (office@conejochurch.org) or Paula M. for a link for the weekly meeting. They plan to meet for a time of prayer on January 18 then start the study in chapter 1 of the book on January 25.

Tuesday Night Guys’ Group (Class via Zoom)

The focus of this group is on fellowship in all its forms (eating, reading, praying, studying the Word and Christian writings). The group meets via Zoom weekly on Tuesdays from 7pm until 8:30pm and is currently studying the book Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. Contact the church office (office@conejochurch.org) or Greg B. or Bob P. to learn more about the group and how to become a part of it.

First Fruits Small Group (Class via Zoom)

Beginning on February 2, Stu and Co W. will be hosting “First Fruits,” a small group on helping and encouraging people to grow their own food right where they live. This small group will be very practical and will discuss things like planting schedules, gardening areas, vegetable types, planting, harvesting, and many other topics as we reflect on God’s creation. This small group is applicable for gardeners at all levels and gardens of all sizes. The group will meet virtually via Zoom on the first Tuesday of each month starting February 2 at 7pm.

Hungry / Thirsty Group (Class via Zoom)

Are you hungry and thirsty to grow in Christ and to build stronger relationships in Him? When life is normal and there is no pandemic, this group gathers for Christ-centered conversations, Bible Study based in the gospels, and prayer over dessert and coffee. The group also enjoys a monthly potluck together. Kids classes / childcare are provided on a rotating basis by group members. During the COVID-19 social distancing, however, the group meets on Wednesdays at 7pm via ZOOM to check in with one another, engage in discussion and prayer. If you would like to be added to the ZOOM discussion with this group, please contact the church office (office@conejochurch.org).

High School Pod

During COVID-19 pandemic, this small group meets weekly on Wednesdays from 6pm through 7:30pm at the church building. The current series is “Soul Searching.” The group meets outdoors and students practice social distancing and wear face masks.

All ages and family stages are welcome. Due to the social distancing protocols during COVID-19, this small group meets weekly via Zoom on Thursdays beginning at 7pm. If you would like to join in with the group, please contact Bill F. or the church office (office@conejochurch.org).

Archives: Gifts In The Church Study

During the month of January, 2004, the Conejo Valley Church adult education program engaged in a study of Gifts in the Church. Rick Marrs, longtime elder of the Conejo Church and professor of Old Testament at Pepperdine University, reviewed the biblical and historical context of the roles of men and women in their faith communities.

Due to the level of interest expressed regarding these classes, we have made them available both in audio and PDF formats. If you are interested, click here.
