We’re delighted to welcome and ordain Haylie Douglas today as our new children’s minister. We have been praying for this day for many months and are so grateful for God’s answer through Haylie. I invited Haylie to answer a variety of get-acquainted questions and hope you enjoy getting to know her a little better.
- Birthday: August 21st, 1999
- Education: degree in Bible and Family Ministry at Harding University
- Favorite meal: Indian food
- Favorite dessert: currently it’s Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate peanut butter cups
- Favorite music: anything by Harry Styles. I am a HUGE Harry Styles fan. My favorite album of his is probably Fine Line, but they are all so good.
- Favorite movie: The Devil Wears Prada and Princess Diaries 2
- Favorite team: Texas A&M Aggies
- Favorite place: It’s hard to pick. There are the places that are favorites for sentimental reasons, like Camp and my grandparents’ lake house. Then there are the places that are favorites for travel/cool reasons, like Barcelona and Cairo.
- Favorite book of Scripture: Esther. Her courage is a true testament to her faith.
- Favorite worship song or hymn: “It Is Well.” I have those words tattooed on my wrist. I can’t sing this hymn without being moved to tears.
- Favorite Christian author(s): C.S. Lewis, Bob Goff, N.T. Wright
- Morning person or night owl: It’s hard to say. College kind of makes everyone a night owl, so I guess for now I’m a night owl.
- What is most exciting to you about moving to California? Getting to start a new adventure and learn new things.
- What is most challenging/daunting about moving to California? The price of everything!
- Spiritual hero: This question used to be a lot easier to answer but I keep meeting more and more wonderful people. It seems like every year, my list of spiritual heroes only grows longer. People like my grandparents, mentors from church, professors, and friends are all included on that list.
- What has drawn you to ministry? Many things: I fell in love with serving at a young age while helping with different ministries within the church, fell in love with full time ministry in high school while working at summer camp, and fell in love with preaching in college while taking a required class for my degree.
